THE NATIONWIDE OPEN ONLINE PLATFORM ILEARN
iLearn is a free platform with online training courses, tests, and webinars for anyone who wants to study and successfully pass Standardized External Testing (SET).
The social organization, Osvitoria, that develops education in Ukraine created this platform. The team of the project strives to ensure that all students in Ukraine have equal opportunities for going to universities they dream of, regardless of their residence, school or social status.
“There are a lot of talented and motivated children among students at boarding schools and orphanages, but they do not have sufficient opportunity to receive high-quality training and enter higher educational institutions. We are giving them this opportunity.”
Zoya Lytvyn, head of Osvitoria Social Organization
The pilot launch of the iLearn project took place in 2012 in the boarding school of Gorodnya, Chernihiv region. For several months, teachers at the Kyiv National Economic University have been conducting mathematics webinars for graduates of this institution. As a result, the majority of the students received high scores in mathematics and applied to receive government-financed education at the most prestigious universities. This result inspired the team to create an all-Ukrainian educational online training platform that can be used by any school leaver from any part of Ukraine. KFund supported this initiative.
Free online courses and webinars on Ukrainian language and literature, mathematics, history of Ukraine, biology, English, as well as vocational guidance webinars are now available on the platform. The platform’s functionality is gamified, making the learning process interactive and fun. When registering on the platform, the user choses a virtual character that can be upgraded for virtual currency – wchibucks which are charged for passing tests and viewing training webinars.
