«Creating Innovators: The Making of Young People Who Will Change the World» by Tony Wagner declare as the best edition in XVII Ukrainian rating «Book of the Year – 2015».
1 March, 2016The book by a world-renowned education expert Tony Wagner published in Ukrainian by Vasyl Khmelnytsky’s fund K.Fund won the XVII Ukrainian rating «Book of the Year – 2015» in nomination «Obrii. Popular scientific literature».
Kiev, 2 March 2016 – Ukrainian version of the international bestseller by Tony Wagner «Creating Innovators: The Making of Young People Who Will Change the World» declare as the best edition in the nomination «Obrii. Popular scientific literature» in XVII Ukrainian rating «Book of the Year – 2015». K.Fund has presented «Creating Innovators: The Making of Young People Who Will Change the World» at TEDxKyiv2015 «I’m Pulse» in December.
According to Tony Wagner whether you are a parent, teacher (preschool through college), mentor, employer, or policy maker, I think you will find that the print and video profiles of these young innovators, as well as the ecosystems that have helped them to develop their capacities, have a great deal to teach us all. «For if we are to create a strong economic future and a sustainable way of life for our children and grandchildren, we all have much that we can and must do together», – said Tony Wagner.
There were assessed 1022 editions in seven thematic categories in XVII Ukrainian rating «Book of the Year – 2015». The short list includes books from 58 publishers from seven cities of Ukraine. Publishing from Kyiv, Lviv and Kharkiv presented the greatest number of books.
In nomination «Obrii. Popular scientific literature» were awarded 40 titles, seven of which were included in the short list of contenders for the victory. Besides «Creating Innovators: The Making of Young People Who Will Change the World» by Tony Wagner there were also presented: «How to Talk to Children About Art» (Françoise Barbe-Gall), «Do not try to get rid of the book»( Umberto Eco and Jean-Claude Carriere), «Do No Harm: Stories of Life, Death and Brain Surgery» (Henry Marsh), «Brain Rules for Baby» (John Medina), «Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead» (Sheryl Sandberg), «TheUKRAINIANS: success stories».
Experts in nomination «Obrii. Popular scientific literature»: Konstantine Rodik, analyst in literary-book market, the president of the Ukrainian rating Book of the Year; Galina Rodina, director of the Center for research rating «Elite-Profi»; Nikolai Timoshik, head of publishing and online publications of the Institute of Journalism and International Relations; Yuri Kononenko, director of the department in Ministry of Education and Science; Alex Ghosh, director of Development of «Context Media», media expert, literary critic; Irina Koval, therapist, associate professor of the National Academy of Medicine; Konstantin Dikan, political scientist, director of the Institute of radicalism problems, deputy director of the Institute of environmental technology and resources; Vladimir Tihii, freelance consultant in environmental management, candidate of physical and mathematical sciences.
The jury noted the importance of the topic about the development of the innovative ability of young people and the importance of this book for Ukraine.
